It was a joyous night of revival with Gospel musician Fikile Mlomo performing for Christian music lovers at GNF Durban Station over the weekend. Mlomo hasn’t had an easy year as she spent two months in hospital because of a spinal tumour which has left her wheelchair bound and in need of an operation.
“I approached this exam with the belief that God was strengthening me and guiding me back to where I belonged.”
The BI Phakathi Foundation and Thinah Entertainment say the reason for organising the all-night prayer is to also help raise funds for Fikile Mlomo’s operation.
“When Fikile informed me that her surgery had been rescheduled, I gave thanks to the Lord because I knew that we would pray before the procedure. This prayer isn’t for artists to showcase their skills; rather, it’s for Fikile’s impending procedure to proceed according to schedule. Giving someone flowers while they can still smell them is very important,” said organiser Thinah Zungu.
Mlomo is hopeful that she will be fine. “People would simply ask, ‘How can I be this beautiful if I’m sick?’”
Despite all the challenges, she says she is grateful for the positivity she receives. ”Since my life is unique, I am aware of the wonderful experiences I have had with God.”
