A woman has been killed by a car that lost control, steering off the road to hit her when she was sitting with her friends in her neighbour’s yard in Waterloo.
Another woman was injured in the accident.
“We were four sitting in the yard of a neighbour chatting as women. While we were at it, I had a feeling to look up in her direction. When I lifted my head, I saw the car’s front end rising and heading in our direction, leaving no time to react,” Mhlakwana Buthelezi who was with the women explains.
“We all stood up and tried to get away, but she had no time to stand up because she was sitting at the front. The car ran her over as she tried to get away,” Buthelezi added.
Thalente Zungu, the sister of the deceased, says she was a loving mother of four. “We are still in shock and disbelief that she is gone; the family still has gotten over another death that recently happened,” said Zungu.
“I do not even know what to say to her children because they are still young and I now have to take the responsibility of being their mother, but they will need counselling to get over the death of their mother,” Zungu elaborated.
Zungu said the family of the driver has been in contact with them and toffered to assist.
The case has been reported to the police in Verulam.
