The lifeless body of an unidentified person was discovered by residents this past
weekend on a rocky pathway near Hillside in Ntuzuma, Nhlungwana area.
Community members spotted the body in the early hours of the morning sprawled
out in an open area and immediately called for help and Reaction Unit South Africa
(RUSA) officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
A local resident, Thulani Mthetho, said the area has a steady rise in criminal activity,
making it unsafe for residents.
“Our community is no longer safe, ever since there was this West Gang who was
busy killing people in the community. I hope the police will find the people who killed
this boy,” said Mthetho.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Spokesperson, Prem Balram, said they dispatched officers after receiving a
call from concerned residents.
“Our officers were quickly dispatched to the scene after receiving a call from
residents reporting a body lying in an open area. Upon arrival, we found a male
covered with a blanket, showing no signs of life,” Balram concluded.
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but police are investigating the
circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help with the
investigation.
