Residents of Lamontville are calling on authorities to repair dilapidated Malinga Road which they say has become a safety hazard and a hindrance to daily life.

Abongile Khoza, walks on the road daily when heading to school. “The potholes are deep and the water accumulation makes it slippery. I’m always worried about tripping or falling,” explains Khoza.

Some say the road is just a visible reflection on deeper neglect of their area by authorities.

“The state of the road is a reflection of the neglect this community has faced for years. We need the authorities to take action and repair the road,” Nomzamo Radebe who is a resident in the area added.

Councillor only identified as Mr. Sivetshe speaks about it as if someone else is supposed to fix it. He says, “The condition of our roads is a reflection of our commitment to the well-being of our citizens. I urge the authorities to take immediate action to repair the Lamontville Malinga road and ensure that our community has safe and accessible infrastructure. It’s been a long time since our road was like this.”

Councillors are the ones meant to speak to relevant stakeholders.
