In a thrilling day of sports, Isolezwe FC stole the spotlight as they won the Ukhozi FM Kuyabikwa’ Sports Day competition held at the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT) Steve Biko Campus over the weekend.
The event was part of Ukhozi FM’s Men’s Month where they are encouraging men to take care of their mental health and discuss problems they’re going through under the theme, “Okwehlula amadoda kuyabikwa”.
Student’s packed the stadium for the tournament as they observed Isolezwe FC triumph 4-1 over Ukhozi FM FC in the final.
“I am pleased with my team’s performance today because they followed all my instructions. I’d also like to extend my gratitude to Ukhozi FM for inviting us to this tournament,” said Zakhele Xaba, Isolezwe FC coach.
He also said that as a team they want to push their young players to greener pastures such as ABC Motsepe League, where they will grow to become successful footballers.
Completing the competition were Premier Foods FC and AmaZulu Legends FC.
Fans were happy to see their legends in their campus.
“I am happy to have participated in this tournament as it brought people together,” said Ndumiso Zondi AmaZulu fan. Zondi also featured as a player for AmaZulu Legends FC in this tournament.
Ukhozi FM has a series of different events targeting men that they host every year in July.
“This tournament happened because of a good relationship that we have with DUT and AmaZulu FC,” said Mandla Mdletshe, Senior Producer Mandate of Ukhozi FM.
